Services Offered

  • Assistive Products
    • Sells recycled paper products to meet most office printing needs. Also, sells slip resistant adhesive tapes and treads. The Low Vision Rehabilitation Center sells rehabilitation appliances and aids.

  • Braille and Reading Instruction
    • Provides braille instruction.

  • Computer Training/Assistive Technology

  • Counseling
    • Offers personal adjustment and vocational counseling.

  • Daily Living Skills/Independent Living Skills Training
    • Provides instruction in personal management, communication, and home management skills, and remedial education. Provides independent living and adjustment services for seniors.

  • Employment/Job Training
    • Offers pre-vocational evaluation, career and skill counseling, occupational skill development, job placement service, school-to-work transition program.

  • Health Services
    • Refers for health services to the state.

  • Information and Referral
    • Provides information and referral to other services in local area.

  • Low Vision Services
    • Low Vision Rehabilitative Center serves the Ark-La-Tex area and provides provides a full range of services and low vision products for people at all age levels, who are legally blind or low vision. The Center is a one-stop location with three distinct areas: the Low Vision Clinic - offering Low Vision Evaluations after referral from an eye care professional; Sensory Aids Store - open daily to the general public offering the latest technology to enhance your remaining vision levels; and a Training Center--offering complete rehabilitation services and programs for all ages.

    • Offers bowling, seasonal activities and recreation activities for seniors.

  • Services for Seniors
    • Offers a variety of services for seniors.

  • Travel/Orientation and Mobility
    • The program incorporates orientation and mobility skills for ease of travel using cane and other assistive low vision devices. Individuals will gain the confidence to access public transportation and navigate unfamiliar surroundings in a safe manner. Outings to restaurants, recreational facilities and other public areas provide a comfort level for the individual to independently seek other outlets that may be of specific interest to that person.
